First sermon in the series “Believing God’s Promise” (Gen. 12-22). Preached by Martin Parker on Sunday 6th January 2013. Text: Genesis 12. As Abram embarks on a new journey of faith we see that the foundation of faith is the Word of God, promising that from Abram would come a great nation, that Abram would be given a great name and that through him would come great blessing to the Word. The fruit of Abram’s faith is obedience to God’s call and his reclaiming of God’s earth for God’s worship. In spite of the faltering of abram’s faith through fear and selfishness we are reminded that God is still in control and His purposes will be fulfilled.
