Part of our series on the parables in Luke’s Gospel. Text: Luke 19:11-27. Preached by Martin Parker on Sunday 15th August 2013. We consider that the reign of the king is not immediate, but delayed, yet present in those who obey him; the rejection of the king by those who hated him and did not want him to rule over them; the reward of the king for faithful service resulting in greater responsibility; and the wrath of the king upon the disobedient servant who had a flawed knowledge of the king’s character, offered a feeble excuse for his disobedience and suffered a fatal ending in his own destruction.
